Communication from Home to School
Children tend to perform better in school when their parents are actively involved in their education. At NIS, we believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential to support student learning and well-being. Our teachers strive to communicate regularly and effectively with parents to maintain these important connections.
We encourage all parents to:
- Read school communications thoroughly.
- Engage actively with any requests from teachers and administrators.
- Reach out proactively with any questions, concerns, or relevant family information that can help the school and home work together in the best interest of your child’s learning and well-being.
By following these steps parents and caregivers can ensure that your child receives the support they need to thrive both academically and personally.
Who to contact?
All parental questions or concerns specific to students’ classwork or routines should be addressed directly to the teacher responsible. The vast majority of concerns will be resolved through this direct communication. In cases where further clarification may be needed, or where concerns remain after discussion, parents should make an appointment with the appropriate leader, whether that be a departmental learning leader, a coordinator, a principal or, finally, the head of school. See the divisional specific sections for details.
Communication Platforms and Apps
In addition to our regular conferences scheduled every quarter, and face-to-face discussions/meetings, NIS uses email and two other main platforms: Toddle and the Parent Portal.
