COVID Update (1/23)

IMPORTANT COVID UPDATE + NO PRIMARY ASAs THIS WEEK

Dear NIS families,

I would like to update you that we had an additional member of the Gr. 1 & 2 pod test positive for COVID-19 today. This brief announcement is to let you know that:

  • The Gr. 1 and 2 pod will be in online learning this week with no access to campus for the Gr. 1 & 2 students. Learning will start tomorrow for them from 10:00 am and teachers will contact children by 9:45 with the learning plan for the day.
  • Siblings of Gr. 1 & 2 students may come to school as normal unless their Gr. 1 & 2 sibling has been identified as a close contact, in which case they should stay home as a part of quarantine learning (see here)
  • We will be contact tracing tomorrow. If your child is identified as a close contact you will be notified. If you do not hear from us you should assume your child is NOT a close contact.
  • There will be no ASAs for Primary students this week. We hope to start these again from January 31, but we will confirm this later.

Gr. 1 & 2 parents should have received a more detailed email on this matter earlier. If you are a Gr. 1 or 2 parent and you did not receive it please check your spam/junk or contact academicoffice@nis.ac.jp

Again, I thank you for your support as we see through this 6th wave together. A reminder that you can help us keep campus open as much as possible by ensuring that:

  1. No child comes to school if any family member is unwell. Instead keep your child home and register for quarantine learning
  2. Your child has a properly-fitting mask and wears it at all times
  3. You report any confirmed close contact or COVID-positive case in your household to covidteam@nis.ac.jp as soon as possible.

Thank you to everyone in our community for pulling together to support the learning and well-being for all!

Sincerely,
Matthew Parr, Head of School
