NIS is Inquiring, Inspiring and Impacting Online!
COVID-19 and the NIS Response
During the last week of February, the growing threat of the COVID-19 global pandemic forced daily, and even hourly, decisions. On February 28, based on collected data and input from families, staff, local and international government agencies, the school decided to switch to an online learning platform. After several days of preparation, NIS Online launched on March 5, and NIS staff have been continuously fine-tuning the system to meet the needs of our families, both locally and those who have traveled back to their home countries.
Since that time, we have routinely consulted with various similarly positioned schools, organizations, and the government and have made a decision to bring students back to campus, in limited numbers at a time, for the last three weeks of the school year, starting June 1. Because returning to campus is not mandatory, NIS Online will remain the primary method for instruction.
Below is the information regarding NIS Online, first uploaded in early March, when the shift to online learning occurred. All of the materials are available in English, Japanese, and Portuguese.
The situation continues to be very fluid, but the school is committed to keeping our community informed in a clear and timely manner. We will update this page whenever new information becomes available, and we thank you for your understanding.
Campus Access During the COVID-19 Pandemic
The policies HERE are adjusted on an ongoing basis in response to the evolving situation and in alignment with local and international government advice. As we carefully return to face-to-face classroom learning from June 1, we ask everyone to follow these policies to make it possible for a smooth and safe return to campus.
