Session Dates


The NIS Summer Program runs for weekly "session" from Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-3:00 pm. Applications are due by July 1. 

  • 2022 Session :  August 1-5

Course Descriptions

Green - Group A

Be an author!: Students will bring their imaginations to life by creating their very own books. During our week we will make two kinds of books; fiction and nonfiction.
Recycled Stamp Art: Students will make their own stamps and then create interesting and striking art using their own home made stamps and their creativity!
Story Book Session and Play Centers: Students will be read a fun and engaging story each day and then led through fun play centers!
Get Your Move On!: We will focus on the PE activities which promote basic skills and healthy movement. Most importantly, we will enjoy playing games!

Blue - Group B

ABC Fitness: Students will get to move their bodies to beat the heat by engaging in physical skill building activities that require teamwork and cooperation.
Hello Magazine: Grab your pencils and glue because you are about to become magazine creators. Each day we will explore different parts of popular magazines to learn how we can make our very own magazines.  
Let’s Play The Xylophone! :We will be using different types of xylophones to make harmonious sounds as a group. 
Physical Sciences: Grab a test tube and get ready to learn about the world around us.  Each student will become a scientist to explore why matter… MATTERS!

Orange - Group C

Board Game Design: Students will design, create and then of course PLAY their very own version of one of three games.  Get ready to innovate and have fun!
Physical Sciences: Grab a test tube and get ready to learn about the world around us.  Each student will become a scientist to explore why matter… MATTERS!
ABC Fitness: Students will get to move their bodies to beat the heat by engaging in physical skill building activities that require teamwork and cooperation.

Yellow - Group D

Physical Sciences: Grab a test tube and get ready to learn about the world around us. Each student will become a scientist to explore why matter… MATTERS!
Drama Time: We will be creating dramas and plays. Students will make props, draw background scenes , learn acting and voice acting techniques. Each group will in the end produce/create their own stage drama!

Age Requirement for Summer Program 2022
Green (Group A) = Students in Preschool /Kindergarten (Born between 9/1/16 - 8/31/18)
Blue (Group B) = Students in Grade 1 (Born between 9/1/15- 8/31/16)
Orange (Group C )= Students in Grades 2-3 (Born between 9/1/13- 8/31/15
Yellow (Group D) = Students in Grades 4-6 (Born between 9/1/10 - 8/31/13)
  • Group placement will be based on a student's age-determined grade placement for the equivalent of the 2022-2023 NIS school year, which runs from September-August, not the Japanese school year placement which runs from April-March.
  • In cases where students come from different international school calendar cut-off date, considerations will be made for different placement.
  • NIS reserves the right to change group allocations subject to student numbers.

Application Requirements

Students must be between Preschool 4 and Grade 5/6 (age 4-12) and have a basic understanding of English, sufficient enough to allow them to follow directions safely and participate in the activities with enjoyment. Please see the requirements under "Enrollment Eligibility".

Session Fees

¥35,000 per student, per session (Lunch fees separate)  *Payment includes the popular Summer Program T-shirts!

  • Change of clothes (for younger students)
  • Closed shoes (for PE classes) - i.e. no sandals or crocs
