Where are you living now?
I have recently finished my Masters of Economics in Barcelona and just moved to Frankfurt, Germany for work.

What kind of work are you doing?
I’m currently a trainee at the European Central Bank, focusing on quantitative analysis within the oversight division. My work primarily involves analysing data related to financial market infrastructures, where I contribute to the preparation of reports and dashboards.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
It’s been fascinating to apply what I learned in university to a specific area, particularly in overseeing the financial system. Overall, I really enjoy the work environment at the ECB, especially the many learning opportunities in economics. A highlight for me was attending a lecture by Nobel Prize winner Claudia Goldin, where she shared insights from her research.

What kind of challenges does it hold for you?
As the job mainly focuses on data analysis, the biggest challenge for me has been adapting to the programming skills required and I’ve been absorbing a lot over the past few months. However, I know this experience will be very useful for my career in the future.

Did NIS help you prepare for your current position in any way?
NIS has a really multicultural environment, much like the ECB. I’m part of a diverse team where I collaborate with people from various cultures, and my experience at NIS was the perfect preparation for that!

What’s the one thing that you are really enjoying or most excited about these days?
I really appreciate the big trainee community at the ECB, where I’ve already formed many great friendships. I also enjoy the job’s flexibility, especially with teleworking, as it lets me visit my family in Barcelona frequently.

What’s the one thing you miss most about Japan/ Nagoya/ NIS?
I miss exploring Japan and eating real Japanese food! I also miss my friends and teachers from NIS.

Lastly, what words of wisdom do you have for today’s Dolphins?
Don't be afraid to follow your instincts, even if what you want for your future is different from those around you. Remember it's always possible to adjust your plans along the way!

最近、バルセロナで経済学の修士号を取得し、ドイツのフランクフルトに仕事のために引っ越しました。

お仕事の内容を教えてください。
現在、欧州中央銀行（ECB）で研修生として働いており、監視部門で定量分析に取り組んでいます。私の仕事は主に金融市場インフラに関連するデータの分析で、レポートやダッシュボードの作成をしています。

お仕事のどんなところが好きですか？
大学で学んだことを実際に金融システムの監視といった特定の分野に応用するのがとても面白く、興味深いです。ECBでの職場環境も大変気に入っており、経済学に関する学びの機会が多いことが魅力です。特に印象に残っているのは、ノーベル賞受賞者クラウディア・ゴールディンの講義に参加し、彼女の研究からの洞察を学んだことです。

大変なことは何ですか？
この仕事は主にデータ分析に焦点を当てているため、プログラミングスキルに適応することが私にとって最大の課題でした。この数ヶ月間、多くのことを吸収してきましたが、この経験は今後のキャリアに非常に役立つと確信しています。

NISでの経験は少しでも役に立っていますか？
NISは多文化な環境で、ECBも同様に多様な文化が共存する職場です。異なる文化背景を持つ人々と協力する今の仕事に、NISでの経験がとても役立っています。

最近、夢中になっていることや楽しんでいることは何ですか？
ECBには多くの研修生コミュニティがあり、そこで素晴らしい友人をたくさん作ることができました。また、仕事の柔軟性も気に入っています。特にテレワークのおかげで、バルセロナの家族を頻繁に訪れることができています。

NISや日本で一番恋しいものは何ですか？
日本を旅したり、日本食を楽しんだりすることが恋しいです。NISでの友人や先生たちのことも懐かしく思います。

最後に、後輩たちへのアドバイスをお願いします。
たとえ周りと違う将来の目標を持っていても、自分の直感に従うことを恐れないでください。計画はいつでも調整できるので、柔軟に進んでいけば大丈夫です！
