Where are you living now?
I am living in Toulouse in the southwest of France.

What kind of work are you doing?
I am working in the field of meteorology as an engineer. I am currently trying to implement AI in the weather forecast programs of Météo France.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the autonomy it provides as well as a lot of social security as I am a public servant.

What kind of challenges does it hold for you?
What I am working on is in the field of research, so it provides a lot of problems to solve and quite a bit of scientific research on a very specific topic, which can seem to be a little overwhelming at first but is very enjoyable once you dig in.

Did NIS help you prepare for your current position in any way?
It obviously helped in the fact that everything is being done in English, but that is not the only thing. NIS helps to structure the mind around problem-solving and autonomy while being inside a team.

What’s the one thing that you are really enjoying or most excited about these days?
Well, with Roland Garros, the World Cup, and the Tour de France around the corner, I am pretty excited to follow these events!!

What’s the one thing you miss most about Japan and NIS?
I wish I could see the friends I made there more often!

Lastly, what words of wisdom do you have for today’s Dolphins?
Guys, you never know what life holds for you (family, studies, work, …), so stay strong, believe in yourself, and spread love around you. Cheers!

フランス南西部のトゥールーズに住んでいます。

お仕事の内容を教えてください。
気象学の分野でエンジニアとして働いています。現在は、フランス気象局（Météo France）の天気予報プログラムにAIを導入するプロジェクトに携わっています。

お仕事の中で、いちばん楽しいと感じることは？
仕事の裁量が大きいことに加え、公務員として安定した社会保障があることも魅力です。

反対に、チャレンジだと感じることは？
私の仕事は研究分野に属しているため、解決すべき課題が多くあります。また、とても専門的なテーマについて科学的な研究を進める必要があり、最初は圧倒されることもあります。しかし、深く掘り下げていくほど面白さを感じられる仕事です。

NISでの経験は、今の仕事に役立っていますか？
もちろん、英語で学んだ経験は大いに役立っています。しかし、それだけではありません。NISでは、チームの一員として協力しながらも、自立して考え、問題解決に取り組む力を身につけることができました。

最近楽しみにしていることや興味のあることは何ですか？
ローラン・ギャロス（全仏オープンテニス）、ワールドカップ、そしてツール・ド・フランスが近づいているので、それらの大会を観戦するのをとても楽しみにしています！

NIS、日本で一番懐かしく思うことは？
NISで出会った友人たちと、もっと頻繁に会えたらいいなと思います。

最後に、後輩へのアドバイスをお願いします。
みなさん、人生で何が待っているかは誰にも分かりません。家族のこと、進学のこと、仕事のことなど、さまざまな出来事があるでしょう。だからこそ、自分を信じて、前向きに頑張ってください。そして周りの人たちにたくさんの愛を届けてください。応援しています！
