Where are you living now?
Honolulu, Hawaii
What kind of adventures are you having these days?
Going to the World Series the last two years in Los Angeles to watch the Dodgers win back to back championships. I became a Dodgers fan back in 1977 when Willie Davis, a World Series champion with LA, moved upstairs with his family at Tobe Mansions in Minami-ku. The Chunichi Dragons, the Dodgers sister team, brought Davis in as a one year free agent.
What are you enjoying most with your current endeavors/ adventures?
Witnessing baseball history being made with Shohei Ohtani hitting home runs and Yoshinobu Yamamoto winning the World Series MVP in dramatic fashion!!!
What kind of challenges, if any, are you facing these days?
As a teacher, I am still trying to get my students off social media and focus on their academic assignments.
Did NIS influence you in your decision to do what you are now doing?
As I have stated elsewhere [see Alumni Spotlight], I am indebted to Mr. Keith Guthrie who showed me there are many different ways to teach mathematics!
What’s the one thing that gets you really excited these days?
The number of Japanese baseball players having success in the MLB!
What’s the one thing you miss most about Japan?
The food without a doubt!!!
Lastly, what words of wisdom do you have for today's Dolphins?
Never choose the path of being a victim!!!
最近、どんな「冒険」をしていますか？
ここ2年続けてロサンゼルスでワールドシリーズを観戦し、ドジャースが連覇する瞬間を目の当たりにしました。私がドジャースファンになったのは1977年。当時、ワールドシリーズ優勝経験を持つウィリー・デービス選手（ドジャース）が、南区の戸部マンションで私の家族の上の階に引っ越してきたことがきっかけです。中日ドラゴンズ（ドジャースの姉妹チーム）が、1年契約の助っ人としてデービス選手を招いていました。
最近の経験で一番楽しんでいることは何ですか？
大谷翔平選手がホームランを量産し、山本由伸選手が劇的な形でワールドシリーズMVPを獲得するなど、野球の歴史が刻まれる瞬間を目撃できていることです！
最近、何かチャレンジしていることはありますか？
教師として、生徒たちをソーシャルメディアから少し離れさせ、学業に集中させることに、今も取り組んでいます。
NISは、今の進路や仕事にどのような影響を与えましたか？
Alumni Spotlightでもお話ししていますが、キース・ガスリー先生のおかげで、「数学の教え方には本当に多くのアプローチがある」ということを学びました。今の自分は、その学びに大きな影響を受けています。
最近、特にワクワクしていることは何ですか？
MLBで活躍する日本人選手が、これほど増えていることです！
日本で一番恋しいものは何ですか？
間違いなく「食」です！！！
