Tuition & Fees

Current Students

Students continuing to the next school year are invoiced in April. To reserve a place for the following school year, a non-refundable deposit of ¥100,000 is due by January 30. The remaining tuition and fees are due by June 30.

New Students Enrolling During the School Year

Once registration is confirmed, an invoice will be issued for all applicable tuition and fees. Payment is due within 14 days of invoicing or before the student's start date, whichever comes first.  Students enrolling after the school year has begun are charged tuition on a quarterly basis. Application, registration, and campus development fees are charged in full regardless of the enrollment date or intended length of stay.

New Students Enrolling for the Following School Year

Families whose enrollment is confirmed for the upcoming school year will receive an invoice for tuition and fees. Payment is generally due by June 30. For registrations confirmed after June 30, payment is due within 14 days of invoicing or before enrollment, whichever comes first.

Early Place Reservations

In some circumstances, families or corporate sponsors may wish to secure a place before the normal registration period or before a student's enrollment date is confirmed. NIS may offer advance purchase or pre-purchase arrangements, allowing a seat to be reserved by paying tuition and applicable fees in advance. These arrangements are non-refundable and non-transferable. Please contact the Admissions Office for details.

Registration Windows

Registration opens before the intended enrollment date and varies by grade level.

• Grades 2–12: Registration typically opens on the first school day of the previous semester.

• ELC, Kindergarten, and Grade 1: Registration for the following school year opens approximately 10 months before the start of the academic year. Mid-year enrollments follow the same procedures as other grade levels.

Each year, families of currently enrolled students are asked to confirm their enrollment intentions for the following school year.

At the end of Semester 1, parents will receive a re-enrollment form through the NIS Admissions Portal. To reserve a place for the next school year, all families must complete the form and submit the required non-refundable deposit by January 30.

Completing the re-enrollment process by the deadline helps the school plan effectively and ensures your child's place is secured for the upcoming school year.

The Business Office manages all tuition and fee billing.

Payments must be made in Japanese Yen using one of the following methods:

• Bank wire transfer
• Direct Debit

Please note that the Application Fee can be paid online by credit card through the NIS Admissions Portal.

Bank Wire Transfer Information

Families may choose to pay tuition and the Campus Development Fee in 10 monthly installments through Direct Debit. Payments are automatically withdrawn on the 27th of each month from June through March.

To enroll in the installment plan, families must submit the required paperwork to the Business Office by May 20 and pay a one-time administration fee of ¥20,000 per family. Any bank fees are the responsibility of the family. Families enrolling after May 20 may still apply for the installment plan, provided all payments are completed by March.

Please note that selecting an installment plan does not change a family's obligation to pay all applicable fees in accordance with NIS withdrawal policies.

Families planning to withdraw from NIS must submit the official withdrawal form at least one month before their intended departure date. This allows the school to support a smooth transition and process any applicable refunds.

New and Returning Students

• Application Fee: Non-refundable

• Registration Deposit: Non-refundable from the date of registration

• Campus Development Fee: Fully refundable prior to the student's enrollment start date; Non-refundable after the enrollment start date
• Tuition Before Enrollment Begins: Tuition is fully refundable if withdrawal is requested before the enrollment start date. If withdrawal is requested within 14 calendar days after the enrollment start date, tuition will be refunded less a ¥200,000 administrative fee
• Tuition After Enrollment Begins: Tuition refunds are provided on a semester basis only. No refunds are available for partially completed semesters. To receive a refund for an upcoming semester, the official withdrawal form must be submitted at least 14 calendar days before the start of that semester. Requests received after this deadline will incur a ¥200,000 administrative fee

Re-enrolling Students

The following refund provisions apply to students returning for the next school year:

• Campus Development Fee: Refundable before the first day of the new school year

• Re-enrollment Deposit: Non-refundable after April 1

• Tuition: Refundable on a semester basis only, subject to the withdrawal deadlines outlined above

All Students:

• Transportation Fees: Bus fees are refundable on a semester basis only. To receive a refund for an upcoming semester, cancellation must be submitted at least 14 calendar days before the first day of that semester. No refunds are available for partially completed semesters.
• School Lunch Fees: School lunch fees are managed directly by Cezars Kitchen. Any refund requests must be arranged with Cezars Kitchen.
• Student Support Fees: Where a family has agreed to a 1:1 support fee, the fee becomes non-refundable once the agreement has been accepted and staffing arrangements have been made by the school.
• Exceptional Circumstances: Refunds are not provided in cases of student expulsion unless approved in advance by the Head of School.
• Force Majeure: In the event of a prolonged school closure or other circumstances beyond the school's control, tuition and fees are non-refundable. In such situations, NIS will make every reasonable effort to maintain continuity of learning and school operations.

Timely payment of tuition and fees is required to maintain a student's enrollment at NIS.

• Newly enrolled students may not begin attending classes until all required tuition and fees have been paid.
• Students with outstanding balances may be restricted from participating in non-essential trips and activities.
• School records, including report cards, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and other official documents, will not be released while fees remain unpaid.
• Accounts that remain unpaid for more than 14 days may result in the suspension of school attendance until payment is received.
• Late payments may be subject to a penalty of 3.5% per month on the outstanding balance.
• All financial commitments made at the beginning of the school year remain binding and payable in accordance with NIS policies.
