Our Library: A Space for Reading, Research, and Community
The NIS Library is more than a collection of books; it is a central learning space where students gather to read, explore ideas, and connect with one another.
With a collection of over 20,000 books, along with digital resources, audiobooks, and research tools, the library supports students at every stage of their learning. Younger students visit regularly to discover stories, build a love of reading, and engage with ideas that spark curiosity. As students grow, the library becomes a place for developing research skills, independent inquiry, and deeper academic work.
Meet Our Librarian
A great library is about much more than books; it's about inspiring curiosity, supporting inquiry, and helping every student discover the joy of reading.
Our Librarian, Nicholas Mayer, works with learners of all ages to ensure the library is a place where students feel welcome to explore new ideas, ask questions, and grow as readers and researchers.
A Space for Learning and Exploration
At the heart of the library is a focus on helping students find what interests them. Whether through guided support, peer recommendations, or access to resources both on campus and online, students are encouraged to explore, question, and engage with reading in meaningful ways.
The library also serves as a shared space for the wider school community. It is a place where students meet, collaborate, and participate in a variety of learning experiences, from class sessions to special events and visiting speakers.
Author Visits
NIS hosts regular visits by illustrators and authors who spend time with students to help with their story-telling skills and to encourage a love of reading and writing! Often tied to specific subject areas, these authors work with a range of ages and subjects.
Collaborative Spaces
The library is not just a place to read! The NIS library is regularly transformed into collaborative learning spaces for not only students, but also the community. The library provides a bright, welcoming space for meetings and forums for discussion.
Japanese Section
Thanks to the support of the community, NIS is able to provide a limited number of books in languages other than English. Our Japanese section provides resources for students of all ages.

A Library Without Walls
Learning doesn't end when students leave the library. Through NIS's Digital Library, students have access to thousands of high-quality books, audiobooks, research databases, and online learning resources anytime, anywhere.
Available 24 hours a day, the Digital Library supports reading, inquiry, and independent learning across every grade level. Whether discovering a new favourite book, listening to an audiobook on the journey to school, or accessing reliable research sources for a class project, students can continue learning wherever they are.
Resources are carefully selected to support the curriculum and the developmental needs of students, from engaging digital picture books for younger learners to academic journals and research databases for Diploma Programme students. As students grow, so too do the resources available to them, helping them develop as confident readers, thoughtful researchers, and independent learners.
