Each year, students and families have opportunities to connect with universities through visits, fairs, presentations, and individual research. Combined with the personalized support students receive throughout high school, these connections help students make informed decisions about their future with confidence and clarity
Four Years of Continuous Support
University planning does not begin in Grade 12. Starting in Grade 9, students work with counselors to build a four-year plan that aligns their interests, strengths, and future aspirations with their academic program. As students progress through high school, guidance becomes increasingly personalized, helping them make informed decisions about courses, diploma pathways, extracurricular involvement, and post-secondary opportunities.
Parent Education
Choosing a university is one of the most significant decisions students and families make together. At NIS, we believe parents play an important role throughout this journey, and we are committed to ensuring they feel informed, supported, and confident every step of the way.
Throughout high school, families are invited to participate in a comprehensive parent education programme led by our College & Career Guidance team. Information sessions, workshops, university presentations, and individual meetings help parents understand the university admissions landscape, application timelines, financial considerations, and the many pathways available around the world.
As students begin to explore their interests and future goals, parents gain the knowledge and resources needed to support thoughtful conversations at home. Together, families and counselors work in partnership to help each student identify universities that are not only academically appropriate, but also aligned with their strengths, aspirations, and well-being.
By building understanding and maintaining open communication throughout the process, we help ensure that students and parents navigate the transition from high school to university with clarity, confidence, and a shared sense of purpose.
