Secondary Hanami

It's been another long, weary winter of COVID, social distancing, and canceled plans. But with COVID on the decline and students feeling the need for a boost of camaraderie and sunshine, two Gr. 11 students took it upon themselves to plan the "Secondary School Hanami” party at Shinrin Koen. It was touch-and-go for awhile but the weather dawned glorious on Monday morning, enabling the students to have their afternoon in the park!

From period 4 through the end of the school day, the students enjoyed a lovely walk to the park and some much needed time gathering under the full blooms of the sakura trees in the park. The two thoughtful students planned the event to help students experience this unique part of Japanese culture as a whole secondary school! The day didn’t disappoint and it was a superb start to the week ahead!
