Renewable Electricity at NIS

With the beginning of the new financial year, today marks the day when NIS's contracted electricity supply changes from being around 80% fossil fuel-based to being 100% sourced from renewable electricity generators. We are now on Chubu Power's CO2 Free plan. This important new commitment is the result of the actions and advocacy of our student lead CliMates Club and Eco-Committee. These same students have also championed measures, such as aircon usage limits, to reduce electricity consumption around the school. Next, they are turning their focus to the methane gas-powered aircon units in the Wing Building. Students are demanding that NIS become fossil fuel free. With solar panels and EV buses, we could even become an exporter of clean energy!
