MUN in Fukuoka

From April 6-9, NIS Model United Nations students attended their first face-to-face MUN conference, West Japan Model United Nations, since 2019. Our hosts, Fukuoka International School prepared an excellent conference in which our student delegates could hone their debating skills, following several weeks of researching their assigned country and topics of debate. Our MUN delegates made NIS proud with their effort and engagement with students from schools in Japan, Korea, Indonesian, and the Philippines. While much was learned about MUN procedure, protocol, and debate, the definite highlight was for our students to reconnect with friends at other Japan-based schools and make new friends from a range of interesting places! Special mention goes to William Z. who won the 'Most Active Delegate Award' for his work in the World Health Organization committee. Congratulations to all NISMUN delegates who participated in WJMUN who stretched their thinking and stepped out of their comfort zones, demonstrating that they are indeed reflective of the IB Learner Profile: knowledgeable thinkers and communicators who are collaborative risk-takers!
