Hina Doll Exhibition

The Gr. 11 & 12 Japanese B and ab initio students went on a mini-field trip to a gallery called "Watoraku 和陶楽" and is just a three minute walk away from NIS. The owner is a local potter and he is holding a Hina Doll Exhibition until March 3 (otherwise known as “Girls' Day”). Students learned about nature and types of gods in Japan, traditional customs and costumes, the meaning of celebrations such as new year, divided seasons and Tanabata. It was the first time for many students to see a set of Hina dolls and they asked many inquiry questions to him. We are very grateful to Mr. and Mrs.Yamane.
