The stage was set, the representative flags were arranged, and the row of students in green flowing robes had taken their seats in the first row. It was a familiar scene, after all this was the 57th graduation ceremony. But there the similarity ended…because even though pomp and circumstance has a sense of historical similarity, the accomplished students who awaited their diplomas and the chance to switch their tassels were anything but ordinary. They were 28 remarkable young people, representing 13 different countries, and showcasing the finest of NIS. Together with friends and family in the audience and watching from around the world via livestream, they marked their accomplishments and announced their future aspirations.
Entertaining speeches given by the Salutatorian and Valedictorians reflected a warmth, closeness, and humor that was clearly forged by the many challenging and inspiring moments they shared as students. Head of School, Mr. Parr offered his birds’ eye view of their growth and development and how confident he was that they all possessed the tools they needed to tackle their next adventures. And an inspiring Mr. G., left them with some wisdom and reminders they might want to use when they inevitably meet some roadblocks along the way.
Though some had only been a part of the Dolphin class of 2024 for a couple years, there were also students celebrating their 15-year journey at NIS. However, no matter the time spent here in Nakashidami, it was clear that this tight-knit group of outstanding students will be heading out into the world with a strong sense of self, purpose, and enthusiasm. knowing that their friends and the whole NIS community will always have their backs as they go out and make their mark in the world. Congratulations Class of 2024! We are all so proud of you!
