Student clubs "NIS Cli-mates", "MS Roots & Shoots", and several elementary students today posed for a photo with a transplanted tree to celebrate the removal of the drink vending machines at NIS. Acting on concerns about the machine's carbon footprints, PET bottle waste and litter, and the long term health impacts of mostly sugary drinks, students supported the NIS Administration to negotiate for their removal. One can-only machine may be returned in the future. These clubs are hopeful that more students will be encouraged to bring their own water bottles and even hand towels, and continue to be involved in helping to make NIS more green-friendly!
