Time to Harvest!

The time has finally come! What started as a connection between a 3rd grade economics unit, a kind neighbor of the school and a helpful secondary teacher with a passion for gardening, has finally come to fruition! Or maybe "potat-ition." We have waited for 8 months, from the day we planted our satsumaimo (Japanese sweet potato) cuttings, to the day we replanted our sprouts, to now, as we finally got to harvest them. The Gr. 4 students have been regularly asking throughout the year about their sweet potatoes, and now we will separate them amongst the students and enjoy the fruits–I mean potatoes!–of their labor.
