Oni Wa Soto!

Again this year, a big, scary-looking Oni came to visit the ELC. Today is Setsubun, and it is said that Oni, or an evil spirit, visits houses to bring bad luck. The ELC children were so prepared and brave that they threw roasted beans at the Oni and the bad Oni ran away! In Japan, this is a tradition to celebrate the first day of the spring. By driving away the Oni with roasted beans, you get rid of the evil spirits that carry misfortunes from the previous winter. Great job ELC students for getting rid of those bad spirits and help us to properly welcome the Spring!
