Help Them Help the Community!

Gr. 5 students are in the middle of their PYP Exhibition journey with only a few weeks left. For this IB milestone, students think about what they have a passion for and then examine a related issue. From there, they have to formulate an action plan and then present on the PYP Exhibition Day.

With sewing as her passion and the issues of poverty and fast fashion, one student is hoping to collect donated clothes to ‘upcycle’ into blankets for those in need. Another student is combining her love for cooking and the issue around food insecurity to motivate her action of collecting food and donating it to Second Harvest.

This week they set boxes around the school to solicit donations. The NIS community can help them by sending unneeded, but good condition clothing (any kind, but no shoes!) and canned goods (not soon-to-be or expired!) to school. The girls will be taking donations until Wednesday, April 20. Thank you for your help!
