Gr.2 Kofun Museum Trip

What did the Shidami Area look like in the Bronze Age? How has the life of local people changed over time?

To wrap up their unit of inquiry on "Where We Are In Place And Time", the Gr. 2 inquirers set off on an exciting journey to explore the Village of Ancient History at Shidami Kofungun (ancient tombs)! Students got a chance to discover the artifacts extracted from Shidami Kofungun and learn about how things were made back then! Through hands-on workshops at the museum, our open-minded thinkers got a chance to reproduce some of the artifacts and decorate a bag with stamps representing the Kofun era attributes.

It was a wonderful opportunity to deepen their understanding of the central idea: ‘Events and Experiences shape our history’. Not only did they explore the history of the local area and look at the changes the centuries of development brought us, but they also created a memorable experience that shaped their Gr. 2 history!

They are looking forward to their next field trip! Where will their inquiry take them next? Stay tuned!
