Gr. 2 students who are inquiring into economic systems and how they impact the environment conducted a trash audit on Thursday to see how they can make a positive impact on the environment by changing their system. They sorted their trash into 4 piles; reduce, reuse, recycle, waste, and discussed how they can reduce the trash they made and how they can use all the recycled materials. To reduce the trash, they thought of bringing their own towel in to dry their hands, so they don't use so many paper towels. To recycle the trash, they decided to have a "recycled materials box" in the classroom which they can use for projects. Students have already started their own projects using recycled materials!
It is great to see students are thinking about how they can make a positive impact for the world!
