Gr. 2 Problem Solvers
Gr. 2 students have been using design thinking since last semester as part of their “Genius Hour” once every other week.
Design thinking involves five steps: 1. Empathize - students research a need or a problem; 2. Students define the problem; 3. Ideate - students then sketch ideas to solve the problem; 4. Prototype - students build something based on their ideas using recycled materials; and 5. Students try it out!
Recently, they are building or creating projects with materials in the classroom or brought from home such as shoe boxes, water bottles, etc. to solve their problems. It is great to see students engaged and feel empowered - way to go Gr. 2 problem solvers!
