Gr. 4 students spent the whole day Friday enjoying crafts and games and watching movies because it was Freedom Friday! They planned and organized these activities through the democratic process as part of their UOI on “How We Organize Ourselves.” They learned about different political systems and the concept of ‘rights.’ Then they learned about how these affect people's lives and what their rights and responsibilities were within the system. Through that process they formed their own government which resulted in a President and a majority party who had most of the control in planning what would happen on the day. However, it didn’t stop the opposing party from demonstrating and submitting petitions of dissent! At the end of Freedom Friday we’re sure that even the dissenters had an enjoyable time playing games, watching movies, and using the field and gym for activities throughout the day!
