Author Zoom-Visits NIS

Despite strict campus access policies still being in place, we were treated to a visit by a prominent Japanese author/illustrator on Wednesday. Ms. Narisa Togo zoomed in to Gr. 1-2 pod classroom in the morning and then entertained Grades 3-7 in the afternoon in the MPH. The students had so many wonderful questions for Ms. Togo! They asked about her background, her different books, and her process, including how she gets her ideas for her stunning books. Ms. Nagisa studied science and ecology as an undergraduate student in Tokyo and then got a Masters in book illustration at Cambridge University School of Art. Her love of nature, and birds in particular, were big motivators for her to become an author/illustrator. Two of her most loved books are “Magnificent Birds,” and “When the Sakura Bloom” (さくらがさくと). We were so happy to welcome Ms. Togo and learn about art and ecology from her!
