NIS opened the 2024-25 school year on August 20, welcoming in roughly 90 new students who represent 19 countries and 17 home languages, to blend in with the total of nearly 490 students representing 37 different nationalities and a wide variety of home languages.
The first day started with an Orientation Day for all new students and families, along with all of the new and returning Gr.1 and Gr. 6 students. Everyone was excited and perhaps a bit nervous at the beginning, but settled into their routines quickly!
While the impending typhoon (that didn't really impact our area in the end) required us to postpone the Secondary Retreats, the students seemed pleased that the cancelled Septebmer trip was replaced with a snow-retreat to be planned later in the winter! (more details TBD!)
Amongst all our students, 34 home languages are spoken, ranging from Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), English, and Japanese to Bengali, German, Hindi, Swahili, and Vietnamese. Our school’s diversity creates a vibrant community where students learn from each other, share traditions, and build lasting friendships.
In addition to the new students and families, we are very proud of our diverse team of staff!! With passports hailing from 20 different countries, our students are assured of learning from many different perspectives.
