Celebrating Diversity

NIS is celebrating International Mother Language Week! The official UN observance is February 21, but with a school full of students, teachers, and staff from various cultural backgrounds, a day is not enough!

In the Primary School, students celebrated the existence of multiple languages and cultures by doing fun activities from different cultures using different languages led by the NIS Home Language Club on Wednesday. The Secondary School students did research on their own mother tongues to discover who they are and gave presentations during homeroom.

As a new element to our Mother Language Day celebrations, students and staff are enjoying International Food Focus Week into next week as well. We are exploring different cultures through food everyday thanks to Cezars Kicthen!

Thank you to the Home Language Club for organizing this fun and important event for the community. It has been an amazing opportunity to explore the many languages and cultures around the world as well as reflect on our own identities!
