A Week of Tests

The MPH was a busy hub of students in and out this week as different classes sat for exams. Grades 4, 7, and 10 took CAT4 exams on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. CAT stands for ‘Cognitive Abilities Test’ and measures a student’s aptitude over 4 different areas: Verbal reasoning (thinking with words), Quantitative reasoning (thinking with numbers), Non-verbal reasoning (thinking with patterns), and Spatial reasoning (thinking with shapes and space). These tests will help the school better serve our students by understanding their preferences and aptitude, and where any support, if needed, should be applied.

Taking their place on Thursday and Friday, Grade 12 DP students sat for their IB Mock Exams. These will help familiarize the students with how the exam works and what areas might need extra review prior to the external exams held in May. Mock IB exams will run until March 3.

With the addition of the new East Building and the spacious MPH, exams are now easier to schedule and administer, with students having the ample space and quiet to concentrate. That is especially important under the current circumstances where we need to be properly distanced. We feel very fortunate to have this great space available for our students.
