NIS celebrated our 60th Anniversary with cupcakes for all!
The NIS community celebrated the opening of the school year with the annual “Welcome Potluck” on Sept. 6.
NIS opened the 2024-25 school year on August 20 with an Orientation Day for all new students and families, along with all of the new and returning Gr.1 and Gr. 6 students.
ELC families started the school year by joining together for a fun day filled with activities to nurture relationships within the ELC.
The long-planned project to create a mural with the people that the Gr. 5 students researched has finally happened!

Big conundrums that seemingly have no solutions can be better understood when discussed and brought into the light. This week NIS MUN members discussed the topic of “The Question of Myanmar’s Ongoing Genocide.”
NIS celebrated the completion of the MYP with the Gr. 10 students and parents on June 17. Their journey was celebrated with an evening of reflections, awards, and performances. Highlights included an amazing performance by a local Taiko drummer.
On Monday, the Gr. 11 students showcased their Theory of Knowledge (TOK) work at the TOK Exhibition. After choosing prompts about knowledge, they found three objects to answer their questions using critical perspectives.
The Stress Zero Global club hosted a few days of well-being activities for the students (and staff!) which started with a pajama day and ended with water games today!
Gr. 5 students had a full day of ‘going back to the future’ as they lived like Middle schoolers on Wednesday. Starting with figuring how the lockers work and then jumping into a regular schedule of classes, including Design, Science, Individuals and Societies, and Wellbeing, the students got to see what it felt like to move from class to class!
Fourteen dedicated Gr. 10 and 11 students and two staff advisors traveled to Hanoi Vietnam on Monday to have a week full of building community as they kickstarted the first overseas trip since pre-COVID times.
Admissions representatives from 15 colleges attended to discuss their English based programs of study at the 3rd Annual College Fair!
