After last year's wellness frogs, homemade skateboards, plastic dolphins and various projects designed to raise awareness and to advocate for change, on issues relevant and important to our middle school students, planning for this year's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Projects 2022.
What would you do if you were given two whole days to work on a project about something you are passionate about, something you fundamentally believe in and/or affect change in an area of your lives? The SDG Project Days was officially launched on Thursday. New students connected, and returning students re-connected with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, that were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity. Nagoya International School is proud to support these goals and to provide students with the time and opportunity, outside of the main curriculum, to engage with the goals and work on projects that connect these goals and their individual passions
Over the coming weeks, the students will continue to discuss and develop ideas, connect with others that share similar interests or goals, and start working together to develop their own projects. Their projects require them to present proposals for their ideas, including groups, aims and a plan for how to realize them, and, where necessary budgets and risk-assessments, depending on their projects. The NIS SDG Project Days 2022 will take place on November 7-8, and they will work to develop their ideas and projects during homerooms over the course of next several weeks.
