NIS is unequivocally vital to international business in the Nagoya and the surrounding Chubu region.

Steve, thanks so much for your lead donation. It was a significant contribution to the project not only for your donation, but also as the first company to come forward and support the campaign. Can you talk a little about why are H&R is supporting the 2020 Vision Project?

The H&R Group believes in giving back to the communities where we work. The international community in Nagoya has provided important support to our relocation company for the past 25 years, and because we have benefited directly from this vibrant community, we felt the best way to give back would be to support this visionary project. I hope that our donation will have an impact to help companies be more successful in the Chubu area and for international business in Chubu to continue to thrive in the region far into the future.

Why do you think the 2020 Vision Project is important for Nagoya?

Nagoya International School (NIS) is unequivocally vital to international business in the Nagoya and the surrounding Chubu region. With a top-quality international school that can cater to students from around the globe, Nagoya is able to attract companies and their employees to successfully implement and grow their business, thus leading to further economic development for Nagoya. The completion of this project would help propel NIS into the top tier of international schools in Asia and would provide executives from any country the peace of mind needed to enable sending families to accompany their employees to Nagoya. Indeed, they can be confident that their employee’s children will achieve equal or even better educational opportunities at NIS that they would in their own country.

As a lead donor, what is your hope for other corporations?

I hope that all regional corporations can see how important the 2020 Vision Project is for their own business and international employees, even if that business has no direct relationship with NIS. The importance for the community as a whole should be a motivating factor for companies to contribute for the betterment of Nagoya and the wider Chubu region. Therefore, I would obviously like to see many other corporations match or exceed our donation to help NIS in this next important step, regardless of whether or not they have international families working here in Nagoya or not.

この度は率先してプロジェクトをご支援くださり誠にありがとうございます。ご寄付を賜ったことに加え、キャンペーンへの支援表明をされた最初の会社となって下さったことは大変意義あることだと思っております。今回H＆Rグループが本プロジェクトをご後援くださることになった背景をお聞かせください。

H＆Rグループはいつもお世話になっているコミュニティの皆様に恩返しをすることを信条としています。リロケーション会社である我々は過去２５年に渡り名古屋のインターナショナル・コミュニティに支えられてきました。活気に満ちたこのコミュニティの恩恵をじかに受けてきたので、恩に報いるには名古屋の将来を見据えた今回のプロジェクトを支援することが一番の方法だと思ったのです。我々の寄付が中部圏で事業展開をする各企業の成功と、中部圏における国際経済の末長い繁栄に大きく影響することを願っています。

NIS東棟校舎建設プロジェクトはなぜ名古屋にとって重要だとお考えですか？

NISが名古屋及び中部地方の国際的な経済活動にとって不可欠な存在であることは明白です。トップレベルの教育水準を持ちあらゆる国籍の生徒たちが入学可能なインターナショナルスクールを擁することで、名古屋は国内外の企業や従業員にとってビジネスを拡大するのに格好の都市として認知され、地域の更なる経済的発展に繋がっていくと考えられます。本プロジェクトの成功はNISをアジア有数のインターナショナルスクールへと押し上げ、各国の企業幹部が安心して従業員とその家族を名古屋に送り出すことを可能とするでしょう。従業員の子供たちは本国と同レベルかそれ以上の教育をNISで受けることが出来ると確信できるはずです。

寄付者代表として、他の企業に期待することは何でしょうか？

地元企業の皆様にはNIS東棟校舎建設プロジェクトが彼らの事業や外国籍の従業員にとっていかに重要なことかをご理解いただければと思います。NISと直接関わりがなくとも、名古屋、そして中部地方の発展を目指すうえで、コミュニティ全体にとって何が重要なのか、どう貢献できるかを考えて頂きたいと思います。NISがこの価値ある一歩を踏み出すためにも、外国人従業員のいるいないに関わらず、多くの企業が我々と同等あるいはそれを上回るご寄付によってNISをご支援くださることを望んでいます。
