Why are you supporting the project?
As the NIS Board Chair, as a parent, and as a longtime member of Nagoya’s international community, I’m so proud of our school. Nagoya International School delivers a truly incredible, educational experience – the finest in Nagoya certainly, and one that stacks up well against larger international schools throughout Japan & Asia. Why would we not build first class facilities that support & enhance the first class learning that is taking place on our campus?
Why do you think this project is important for Nagoya?
Nagoya has grown so much over the years as an international city, but sits at a crossroad as the city looks towards the future. Our school has played a vital role for the city over the past 50 years as Nagoya’s industries globalized, and today NIS continues to be as important as ever before. Building a state of the art campus now ensures that Nagoya can continue to count on NIS to support the city’s global industries, attract new business to the region and produce future generations of globally minded students ready to embrace the opportunities that the future holds for Nagoya.
As a lead donor, what is your hope for other corporations?
My hope is a simple one. The Vision 2020 Project is necessary for our school to continue to deliver a world class education to the global students of Nagoya now and into the future. Both users of the school as well as members of the Nagoya business community that benefit from NIS need to join together, donate, and make the vision a reality.

私はNIS理事長、保護者、そして長年にわたる名古屋の国際コミュニティの一員として、私たちの学校を大変誇りに思っています。NISは名古屋一と言うべき本当に素晴らしい教育体験を提供しており、その水準は日本やアジアの大規模なインターナショナルスクールに匹敵するものです。私たちのキャンパスで一流の学びをサポートし強化するためにも、同じく一流の施設を建設しない理由はありません。
NIS東棟校舎建設プロジェクトはなぜ名古屋にとって重要だとお考えですか？
名古屋は国際都市として大きく発展してきましたが、未来に目を向けると未だ岐路に立っていると言えます。名古屋経済がグローバル化するにつれ、NISは５０年以上にわたりこの都市で重要な役割を果たしてきました。そして現在も、変わらず重要な存在であり続けています。今、最先端のキャンパスを作り上げれば、今後も名古屋はNISを活用しながらグローバル産業を支援し、地域へ新しいビジネスを誘致することができるでしょう。また、未来の名古屋がもたらす機会を利用することのできるグローバル志向の若者を生み出すことも可能です。
寄付者代表として、他の企業に期待することは何でしょうか？
私の願いは単純です。NIS東棟校舎建設プロジェクトは、当校が現在も将来も名古屋のグローバルな生徒たちに世界レベルの教育を提供し続けるためになくてはならないものです。当校の利用者はもとより間接的にNISの恩恵を受けている名古屋の経済界の皆様にもぜひこのプロジェクトをご支援いただき、夢を実現に導く手助けをしていただきたいです。
